ODEMIRA PARTICIPATORY BUDGET WITH 25 PROPOSALS TO VOTE ON

13-11-2024

Citizens who live, work or study in the municipality of Odemira can now vote on the proposals submitted for public investment as part of the Municipal and Parish Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. The 25 approved proposals, out of a total of 27 ideas submitted, will be put to the vote until 30 November.

Voting can be done via SMS, on the online page www.op.cm-odemira.pt, or in person at the Municipality's One Stop Shop and at all the Parish Councils. All citizens aged 14 and over can vote, and each citizen can vote only once. The proposals to be voted on, both tangible and intangible, consist of specific responses to the needs of local communities, for cultural, educational, sporting, environmental and social projects, as well as the improvement of public spaces and accessibility.

The municipality undertakes to include the winning proposals in the municipal budget, totalling 300,000 euros, and to implement them over a period of 30 months. With a view to territorial cohesion, the implementation of at least one project in a parish in the municipality with fewer than 1,500 inhabitants is guaranteed.

Odemira's Participatory Budget aims to boost citizen participation through positive and constructive factors, based on the principles of proximity, transparency and opportunity. Since its implementation in 2011, around a third of the population of the municipality of Odemira has taken part in this process and participatory budgeting projects are a reality throughout the municipality.
