NETWORK LAUNCHES TRAINING COURSE ON PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

The Participatory Municipalities Network launches a training course entitled "Public Participation: Concepts and Methods".

This course offers a unique opportunity to explore the relevance and benefits of citizen participation in building public policies, strengthening the legitimacy of institutions and qualifying democracy.

Throughout the four modules that make up this course, topics such as:

  • The challenges facing liberal democracies today;
  • Public participation, with a proposal for a conceptual definition, an analysis of its importance, the benefits it brings, the myths and challenges it faces;
  • The presentation of various methods of public participation, with an explanation of them, the purposes they serve and the resources to be mobilised for their implementation;
  • A laboratory of good practices, which can be used to review an ongoing participation process or design a new one.

This is a 30-hour training course that has been meticulously designed to meet the needs of elected officials, leaders and professionals who want to develop skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of participatory processes.

In order to facilitate access for participants, the course will take place remotely via a videoconferencing platform between January and March 2025.
